The iJust S is the latest sub-ohm vape pen from the Eleaf iJust series. It’s a younger brother of the older iJust 2 kit, and it comes with a few upgrades. It’s one of the more affordable starter kits with sub-ohm tank on the market, it’s very easy to use and thus appropriate for beginners in the sub-ohming scene, and it provides exceptional preformance for the money. There’s a sub-ohm top-fill design tank with 4mL capacity which is compatible with numerous coils, and a long lasting 3000 mAh battery.

iJust S Battery
We have been testing the iJust S for the past two months. The 3000 mAh battery is awesome, but it only lasts a day with 0.18 ohm ECL coil. However, it can easily last for more than a day with 0.3 ohm coil, and close to full 2 days of vaping with 0.5 ohm coil. Keep in mind that we vaped about 10 ml of e-liquid per day which is quite a lot.
The biggest advantage of this battery is the simplicity of use. Simply press on the fire button (the only button on the battery section) five times to turn it on, and five times to turn it off. There’s a LED light behind the power button that indicates the battery life and basic operation. The LED light turns red when the battery is charging, and turns off when it’s fully charged.
The iJust S really is designed to be as simple to use as possible, but the simplicity comes with a few downsides. The whole unit works as a mechanical mode and there’s no settings to adjust wattage which means there’s not a lot of control options left over this vape. Find a coil and e-juice that suit your taste, and that’s pretty much all there is to it.
Another downside of this battery is that it takes about 3 hours for it to be fully charged through the micro USB cable. It does however come with a pass-through feature, so you can vape while the battery is charging.
Ijust S Sub-Ohm tank
We have tested quite a few sub-ohm tanks that can easily cost up to $50, so we didn’t expect much from the iJust S because it’s just too cheap. But we were quite amazed with both flavor and vapor production.
If you told us that this tank costs $50 before we got our hands on it, we might actually believe you.
We have tested this tank with about 10ml of high VG DIY e-liquid per day.
- Vaping with 0.5 ohm EC Kanthal coil – Almost two days of battery life, good flavor, good vapor production.
- Vaping with 0.3 ohm EC Kanthal coil – More than a day of battery life, awesome flavor, great vapor production.
- Vaping with 0.18 ohm ECL coil – Less than a day of battery life, good flavor, excellent vapor production.
We believe that the 0.3 ohm EC coil is the best option for flavor, and a great option for both battery life and vapor production. There are several other coils compatible with this tank, so there might be some even better options on the market, depending on your preferences.
Update: We have also tested vaping with 0.3 ohm ECL coils. The vapor production was solid, but the flavor was weak.
The iJust S tank features a top-fill design which means it’s easy to refill. It has large holes and we didn’t have any problems filling it up.
There’s a single downside of the iJust S tank, and that is the lack of airflow control options. The kit comes with a silicone airflow control ring that can help adjusting the airflow a little bit, but it’s obviously a cheap and not the most sophisticated option. On top of all, it makes the whole device look weird and cheap.
The good news is that we didn’t feel the need of controlling the airflow at all and we didn’t have to use the rubber ring at all, but some people prefer having proper airflow control features as well.
What’s in the box?
- 1 Eleaf iJust S Kit
- 1 Preinstalled 0.3ohm EC Coil
- 1 0.5ohm EC Coil
- 1 0.18 ECL SS316 Coil
- 1 Silicone Ring
- 1 MicroUSB Cable
- Instruction Manual
We have reviewed several much more expensive vape mods, so we didn’t expect much from a device that costs less than $40. However, we were quite surprised, especially with the performance of the iJust S sub-ohm tank. It amazed us with both; flavor and vapor production, and we feel that the iJust S could be sold at much higher price.
This starter kit probably won’t satisfy the most advanced vapers out there who want to play with different wattage settings and temperature control mode, but that’s alright because it wasn’t designed for them. It will satisfy vapers who are looking for a simple to use device to start their sub-ohm journey, and those who are looking for a tube mod with a large sub-ohm tank and a powerful long lasting battery.
